Google is your friend in this case there are a lot of free clients out there. Pidgen and trillian both have irc abilities. There is also my favorite mIRC or if you would rather use a flash interface how about clicking HERE

Ok so I live at home with my parents currently and they have the nice cable internet tv and phone package. Costs like $118/month. Well recently the bank decided to STEAL almost $1000 from them for some screwed up overdraft fees even though there was enough money in the account. [fucked up right?]

So anyway. There was no money in the bank to pay the cable bill because the check that was put in did not clear yet so I am stuck using my phones internet tethered via a usb cable to my desktop. Currently I am getting just above dialup speeds from it. So I guess its better than nothing but it still sucks royal ass. Hopefully by the end of the day I will have my net back online and running. If not then im gonna be pissed because none of the sites I go to are optimized for dialup xD. No hulu no youtube no pandora *is sad*.

On the plus side if anyone thinks they are ever gonna be in a situation like this. I suggest getting a windows mobile phone. Mine [the htc wizard] and probably all other windows mobile phones have this nice built in program called “internet sharing”. Hopefully you live in a better area than I do tho. Some people live where they can get 400+kb/s download speeds. I am on a 60kb/s connection right now [oh well].

Ok so I have been using the same company to host all my stuff for a while and since I started running magnirack uptime and reliability has been a priority for me. So as such it does not make sence to host everything I have on one network. That is why I am going to move my stuff to another datacenter [still with the same host just a different location]. So the plans are tomarrow to move this entire server over from Dallas Texas to Atlanta Georiga. Now the move itself will be painfree however there will be some downtime on themodshop and any of my other sites. This is not expected to last more than about 45min. Keep in mind that the dns servers will have to update and that CAN take upto 48 hours however I have never seen it take more than 30min.

As we prepair to take off I ask that you please buckle your seatbelts, Take small children by the hand and stay seated till the server comes to a full and complete stop.

Well as you all know [or should know] the add up above is for Magnirack. The gameserver company I own and operate. It has been running great for the past 3 months and so I was about to expand. Well at the time I was just planning the expansion when one of the mods [DAN] on a forum I frequent [And am also a mod on]. [FWS] Posted that his webhosting company was up for sale. Well I figured what have I got to loose. So I placed a bid not entirely expecting to win and then what do you know. I ended up the proud owner of DeiseHost. DeiseHost has been around since 2006 and is a established company so I was happy to be able to take it over. That was not even a week ago and so far things are running smooth. I am still working to get everything finalized but it should be complete very soon. So if you are ever in the need for some webhosting I suggest checking it out.

What does this mean? Well there might be a rotating ad at the top of the page for magnirack and DeiseHost. Sorry guys but the ads help pay the [large] bills. You never realize how much running a site such as this costs till you really do it. Currently we get 200-300 unique page views on the main site here every day. That may not seem like a lot but if think about it that comes out to around 7000 to 80000 unique [Different people] viewing the site every month. In short we have to pay for the server used to host the little blog here as well as the bandwidth needed to keep it coming into your home.

As I expand into new ventures it also opens up new doors for themodshop. Some of the things I am looking into is getting our forums more active. I and dark are also thinking about doing a weekly or monthly audio podcast. That is still in the works tho.

Also we just recently had a birthday for our site here. Its a little late but on the 16th of November I made my first blog post on themodshop. We have come a long way since then. I am currently trying to keep at least 1 post per day on here. Sometimes they are not that great sometimes they are. It all depends. This is one of those posts that most will think is not so great. However I feel that I need to keep everyone updated on whats going on.

One of the things that I have added but not really said much about is Twitter tools down in the bottom right hand side of your screen under the nav. If you look at that it is my twitter. I update this all the time with stuff that I am currently doing and it also gets updated with the newest blog posts. So if you have twitter why not click [HERE] and follow me.

Another one of the changes that is going to possibly happen.

I might be moving our site to another server. Now before you panic its with the same host I have been with for almost a year now. However its in a different location [Atlanta GA]. You may be asking yourself why I would do such a thing. Well the answer is quite simple. MagniRack is hosted off the same server. And all the gameservers and this server are in the same datacenter. Now in the unlikely event that something was to happen then everything would go down.  So in a effort to prevent something like that from happening I am thinking about moving all my sites off network. Its only so I can still be reached in the unlikely event that the datacenter goes dark for any reason. Now this has not happened yet and it might not ever happen but it cant hurt to be prepared.

As I notice I have completely went off topic so while I am on a roll I might as well keep going.

Another service I launched is called L4N. Now this site is for all you people who need a short domain name for your hosting account or maybe a alternative to tinyurl. Both of these services are on that site and I am still working to add more and make it better. All the services are free and open for anyone to use so why not check it out.

H4K.US. As I stated earlier in this post me and dark are thinking about starting a weekly podcast. Now instead of posting it directly here. What we will do in the event that we start doing the podcast is release them and have it downloaded from H4K.US. Of course all the episodes will be linked to on here we will just be doing it under another name. I will update everyone on the status of this as we decide what we are going to do.

Track3r.net. Now this domain I have had for a while and never knew what to do with it. Its as you know my online nick name. So what I am thinking about doing is putting a personal blog up on it that will have my very long rants such as the ones I post here. But it will be more free and open not so much based on tech stuff. Who knows I am still thinking about that one.
