A Look Back In The Archives [Old youtube videos I have done]

January 27th, 2009 | Category: Laptop, News, Tech Talk, Windows

The above video is from 2006 when we had a half assed clan here on themodshop. We were playing warrock. The main player is me and the other 2 are Dark and the very much unknown maddog. It was fun while it lasted.

Now this video is from when I lived back in Florida. I was out on a paintball field and decided to try and record it.

Here is one of my first tip/trick videos that I ever did. I know you cant see whats going on and sadly I lost the writeup that goes with it :( . Maybe I will re-do it some day.

This is my most popular video on youtube. With over 50,000 views im surprised that i have only gotten one noob saying its my fault there eeepc is messed up. Maybe because no one else was a noob and they all followed my instructions correct.

Well thats all there is for the look back into the archives. I know it was not much but hey. Next year we will do it again and have even more!

Quick Trick: Get a MP3 Player for your site / Myspace…FREE!!!

January 26th, 2009 | Category: News

Ok so maybe you don’t like the myspace player or what ever. Well if you feel brave you can head over to myyearbook.com [yes another social network site] but it will allow you to create a profile with a media player [the one above] and you can put something like 40 songs on it. Then head over and view your profile. Click the little popout box for the mp3 player. View the source code and then take the part that says embed id=”mp3″ name=”mp3″ …ect..ect..ect till you reach the /> and put that code onto your site and the result is above!

Shorten your url? How about do it within a program and use the API! [OPEN BETA!]

January 25th, 2009 | Category: News, Tech Talk

Ok well I have a shorten url service. Recently a few people have asked me to get a public api for it so they can use it for programs like twitter. Well I had that done! Now if you are a programmer and want your URL’s shortened then you can use the public api to do it.

To use the API for programs you would just have to submit the following http://l4n.us/api/?u=http://themodshop.net/somerandomlongfolder/somerandomlongpage.randomlongextension where your url is placed after the ?u=. Then the api will write the data to the database and spit back a url on a single line that you can pass through to the twitter post or what ever else you plan to use it for.

Ok not to hard right? But what if you want a nice pretty interface because you are going to use it for yourself by hand. Well in that case just head over to the source link below and type in your URL and poof you have a short one. This service is both free and ad free and quite fun to use for rick rolling people :P

Enjoy.

Use windows remote desktop? h4k5 time!!!

January 23rd, 2009 | Category: News

Ok so the guys[and Snubs] over at hak5 did an episode and in this episode they were talking about terminal services [save money on license fees] and they were also talking about RDP brute forcing. Very interesting stuff I did learn a bit from it. So instead of writing it all out and making you sit and read for an hour why not just watch the video? :)

Disclamers People…Read them! [Dont be a noob like sammyboyp96]

January 22nd, 2009 | Category: Joke

Ok so today I got some comments from a kid [I am guessing 12 or 13 years old] blaming me for borking his EEEPC. [See HERE] I find it quite funny. For 1 if he would read then it says TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Now see if it really is borked but still fixable and he had said “My eeepc got broke can you please help” then I would have been more than happy to assist him. But he had to be an ass about it and now what does he get? A broken EEEPC and public humiliation because he is now officially labeled a noob.

The moral of this story? Dont be a noob if you fuck up then ask for help not just say “**** you”
