Ok so here is the story. Guy goes in to his local best buy. Buys a Mac Book Pro for somewhere around $2000.00. Leaves best buy heads home gets there and opens the box and what does he realize? He just spent $2k on a paving stone….Now you may be thinking that this is his own fault or maybe he is trying to scam someone out of money but I don’t think that is what happened. What I think is a best buy employee swapped it out so they could get a free mac book. As of right now best buy is blaming apple and apple is blaming best buy and the consumer is fucked out of his $2k. So at this point I am going to say that best buy fails due to there process of checkouts. When the item is something of this much value they should open the box before the customer leaves the store to make sure every thing is in there and its not replaced with a brick.
Ok so a friend of mine posted a thread on FWS about selling some of his old servers that he had colocated in the US [he is from the UK]. The servers although not that powerful were super cheap and I could not resist getting them. Now you may be asking yourself one of 2 things.
What is the use of 2 more computers that you have
Why the fuck do I care.
To answer #1 these new servers can be used to demonistrate many different tips tricks and mods that can be done. Such as home VPN servers, Media servers, Home Web Servers, Proxy Servers, Clustered computing,…ect..ect..ect..ect.
To answer #2 it will allow me to get mods done on a topic that everyone can do. I mean come on we all have that old closet pc that does nothing right?
The new servers specs are as follows.
Dual AMD 2800+
2GB of Ram
250GB HDD
Buzz – 301
Dual AMD 2000
3GB of Ram
2x 80GB HDD
*Both are rackmount servers not normal mid tower pc’s*
Not the best but about average for your home closet pc. Now I am going to be able to show different things on a whole range of different hardware. Because on top of those 2 I also have some other hardware that I will be able to use.
So I have hardware in a range of ram and processor configurations not to mention the ability to run anything in a VM on this wonderful Phenom I have .
As of right now the servers are still in a holding position. They should get shipped out sometime today from the datacenter and if they do get shipped today on time then they will arrive to me on the 29th. Then I get the fun task of getting all of the computers on the same network playing nice and not sounding like a jet is sitting in my office area. Pictures soon!

[I am taking ideas for stuff to do with this hardware other than trash it. Submit them to me HERE]
I have added a script that will allow you to contact us with your comments and tips and anything else you could possibly need to contact us about. Hopefully someone uses it.

Well seeing as this is only me [Dark] and Tracker, its kinda funny that I call us a team. We don’t generally work together. Sure we discus mods, news, tech, and even game together, but we don’t exactly work as a team. We each do our own thing and try to mash it all into this site. Its interesting and I’m happy to be along for the ride. However I would like to post more original content, as would Tracker, this we have discussed many times. Our forums should be filled with tutorials and we should have many more active members to even expand our little two man team. We have tried to find new other writers to help generate content but we have had no real luck. So I’m proposing that me and Tracker attempt to make every post from now on, a real post. What I mean by a real post is that we actually write our content. I have in the past posed stupid things from engadget and even Gizmodo, but the time for foolishness is over. Tracker is ordering 2 very nice personal servers and will have them set up soon. I’m hoping to do some fun networking mods and tricks with him and his new servers. For example, me and Tracker had at one time a nice VPN set up, however things got hectic and the project fell apart. So here is to a hopefully much more interesting future on TMS!
Also we are STILL looking for writers / modders to simply generate more content, if you have a mod we would love to showcase it, or if you love to talk about modding we would love for you to post your content either here or become a full time writer!
I love building computers. Not only do I love building them, but also taking them apart. Tracker and I [Dark] have striped an entire computer down to nothing in just 1 minute flat. Thats no joke either. When building a new Desktop there are many things to consider. These are just some of the ones on my top priority list.
1. OS
An OS is a very funny thing. If your like me you want a Hack-n-tosh. At the same time you want to run Windows 7 and a Linux distro. OSX is very picky I hear about running on special hardware, atleast if you want it to run well, so maybe you really want to get an Intel processor with an ASUS motherboard because I hear they work best. Now for Windows 7 your also going to need a decent card, not to mention OSX. Linux is happy on almost any system so really if you wanted to you’d be fine getting lower specs.
2. Uses
Different uses of a computer are also important to me. Can I make this computer a Home server? Or will it only be able to surf the web? Will it be an HD movie machine or a gaming PC perhaps? I love all of thee above so my new machine is going to have to be powerful in many areas. But if maybe I wanted to make a simple computer for lets say, Boxee? Then I would be able to not spend so much money.
3. Lifespan
Lifespan is important because even if your computer is outdated before its even shipped (and it is) it still should last you a good 3 to 4 years, hopefully more, but that is very unlikely in these times where everything it obsolete the moment its created.
4. Hardware release dates
If you buy something the day it comes out its extremely expensive, but if you wait to long then its outdated and worthless. So your pretty much playing russian roulette and hoping you don’t shoot yourself later on down the road.
Ok so apparently these 2 guys spent the month of march racking up 217,000 text messages between the 2 and ended up getting slammed with a bill for it. Now the fail is not them texting that much [or is it O.o] rather it is T-Mobile that fails in this one.
Get ready everyone this is a MULTI FAIL!
Fail PT 1. The bill itself. This bill was so fucking big it had to be shipped in a box and cost close to $30 to ship!!!!! GO GREEN T-MOBILE GO GREEN!!!!
T-Mobile has sent me a few letters each 2 pages and on each page there was 2 to 3 lines of text stating that the password on my t-mobile account was changed. WTF? Email that shit.
Fail PT 2. They had unlimited texting….Yes you read that right they had unlimited texts and still got billed for each and every text message they sent/received. Now they did start to redeem themselves by crediting the account for the $26k but still it is a fail.
Ok well I am going to experiment with something. Site traffic has went up but user comments have dropped. I am wondering if tags will bring more people into specific posts and cause more comments. So from now on the posts that are on TMS will be tagged.
