Akismet spam prevention having issues…

For a while now I have used Akismet to keep the spam on the site down however in recent months I have been getting the following message quite often.

Akismet has detected a problem. A server or network problem is preventing Akismet from working correctly. Click here for more information about how to fix the problem.

Now I can click the link to fix it and I am presented with the following info

Server Connectivity

Unable to reach any Akismet servers.

A network problem or firewall is blocking all connections from your web server to Akismet.com. Akismet cannot work correctly until this is fixed. Please contact your web host or firewall administrator and give them this information about Akismet and firewalls.

Last checked 3 hours ago.

Now right below that there is a button to check it again and as soon as I click that then poof all is well.

For one reasion or another the akismet servers are crashing or the network between my server and the akismet servers is failing.

Anyone else have this issue?
