Man dies after loosing beta iPhone…

A man in china has died after reportedly committing suicide possibly due to the loss of a prototype iphone v4. The man worked for Foxconn a manufacturer for all iPhones based out of china. Reports are that he was integrated searched his home was also searched. Some reports also say that he was held in solitary confinement and even tortured. All this because of a lost phone? Come on guys really?

In recent months some have chirped that the iPhone is really a sort netbook in disguise, and now with the debut of a new prototype, the iPhone may start doing double duty as an ultra portable server solution. Created by Japan’s FreeBit, the iPhone server farm prototype houses up to five iPhones and is really just a showcase for the company’s Serversman software.
The free software supports the iPhone, iPod Touch and Windows Mobile phones allowing you to use your phone for network storage, as a file viewer or as a mini-web server. You can see a video explanation and demo of the entire set-up here.
Interesting idea however I will stick with my p4 file server

iPhone 3gs unlock demoed

Its been a busy month for the dev team with both 3.0 released and the 3gs and soon 3.1 firmware. But in there true awesom ways they have shown proof of concept on a iphone 3gs unlock / jailbreak. As shown in the above video. So that is good news your you 3gs owners out there.
THIS IS AS GOOD A TIME AS ANY TO TELL EVERYONE! WHEN THE 3.1 FIRMWARE IS RELEASED DO NOT UPGRADE UNLESS YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE ABLE TO JAILBREAK / UNLOCK. ALWAYS WAIT TILL THE DEV TEAM POSTS SOMETHING ON THERE SITE. I WILL ALSO POST ON HERE IF / WHEN IT IS SAFE TO UPDATE.

Good news for 3gs owners…

So you bought that fancy new 3gs with its better camera and compass but now you cant use all the fun apps that cydia has. Well good news coming out of the dev team.
we were able to verify that the 24Kpwn exploit that the hybrid team used on the iPod Touch 2G is still applicable to the bootrom of the iPhone 3GS. That means we can use the same sort of technique used by our current redsn0w tool to jailbreak and unlock the iPhone 3GS.This is great news, but how did it happen? Why didn’t Apple fix this in their normal cat&mouse fashion? Well it seems this bootrom was cut in about the August 2008 timeframe, so the unintended early reveal of 24Kpwn earlier this year didn’t affect the iPhone 3GS.

And yes, ultrasn0w will be able to be used on the iPhone 3GS for you unlockers! (In fact, without any modifications whatsoever!)
Important: Apple has not given up on the cat&mouse game, and in fact there are challenging aspects of the 3GS jailbreak that aren’t in the other devices. It’ll take some time to safely work these into our tools, but the fundamental weaknesses are there: The bootrom is exploitable via 24Kpwn, and the baseband is exploitable via ultrasn0w. (And just like with the 3G, ultrasn0w for 3GS requires that you not update your baseband when Apple comes out with new firmware.)
Now if my previous guesses are any indication I would say within the next week or so you 3gs guys will have your happy hacking going again.

iPhone MMS on t-mobile!
Ok here is how to make the above work on t-mobile! [note this may work for other providers however I have only tested it on t-mobile USA]
Once your iPhone is jailbroken and unlocked you will want to do the following
Goto Settings>General>Network
Make sure Data Roaming is turned on and 3G is OFF then go into Cellular Data Network.
From here enter in the following
Cellular Data:
apn: internet2.voicestream.com
username:
password:
Visual Voicemail:
apn: wap.voicestream.com
username:
password:
MMS:
apn: wap.voicestream.com
username:
password:

Now reboot your iPhone and you are good to go!!! You will now have a little camera icon next to your message window on the sms/mms application.
AS ALWAYS TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!! THE CHANCES OF SOMETHING GETTING MESSED UP WHILE DOING THIS ARE VERY VERY SLIM HOWEVER IF YOUR PHONE BREAKS ITS NOT OUR FAULT!

Unlock your iPhone 3g Firmware 3.0 with ultrasn0w!
Ok this is a quick and simple one… Follow yesterdays post for jailbreaking and then you can move on….
- Ensure you have upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0
- Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using redsn0w or PwnageTool (this will also install Cydia/Icy)
- Run Cydia or Icy
- Please add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or Icy. That last “o” is actually the number zero “0”! If you use the letter “o” you’ll get an error.
- Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia or icy and install ultrasn0w
- Reboot your iPhone 3G
- T-Mobile USA users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w
- Enjoy
Thats all there is to it! Now one minor issue I noticed. The phone may drop signal and regain it for the first 5min or so after unlocking. After that everything will work like it should.
One perk is if you were using a turbo sim like I was you may see better signals I know I did

JailBreak iPhone 3G Firmware 3.0 using redsn0w
Ok you non iPhone users are gonna hate me becuase the next few posts are all iPhone related. I promise I will get some non iphone content up soon..
On with the post
Jailbreaking your iPhone 3G Firmware 3.0 [may work with other iphones besides 3gs however I dont know for sure]
TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!! THE DEV TEAM WORKS HARD TO PREVENT BRICKING HOWEVER IT IS STILL POSSIBLE. IF YOUR PHONE BREAKS ITS NOT OUR FAULT!
Now that we got that out of the way the steps….
- Update your iTunes to the new release
- Update your iPhone to firmware 3.0 like any normal person would.
- Once updated find the ipsw file that was loaded onto your iPhone [On vista it is located in C:\Users\LOGIN_NAME\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates/]
- Download Redsn0w HERE [dont worry its safe
] - Extract redsn0w and run the program. Simply follow the instructions and you will be done in no time
- Go get a pizza or drink its gonna take a while….
- Enjoy your jailbroken iPhone!
Thats all there is to it your results may very. I had to do it 3 times before I got it done right but if you keep trying it will work
