Show Off Time…. My Ride :P

Ok so I am trying to get back in the grove of posting again so here is one…. its me showing off my truck

Ok so I bought this 1998 Ford F-150 back in august and was happy because it was my first truck/car. It has a 4.6L V8 engine that currently has 140k miles and is white with regular cab and a short bed. Well I was not satisfied with the radio in it… So how do you fix that? NO!!! You dont take it to a shop and have them put one in… you do it yourself

[the truck is white with a LED underglow kit that changes from blue to red green teal white purple and a couple shades in between it also has different flashing and strobe patterns... Illegal as hell to strobe blue or red tho ]

[Gotta have a good radio right? 7 inch motorized flip up touch screen DVD player with USB and SD card inputs. It also has AV inputs on the front and back of the unit for xbox / digital converter box...ect..ect..ect. It also has a hookup and mode where when you put the truck in reverse it activates a rear view camera. Oh ya and bluetooth for handsfree cell phone use with a mic that was ran up next to my sun visor on the drivers side.]

[Cant have a system in a truck with out an amp and subs right? I have 2 10" subs with 2 different amps... Ya they dont match. One is a PPI 400 Watt amp powering a 10" Alpine Type S sub. The other is a Crosfire BMF 600watt powering a 10" Dual Voice Coil Power Acoustic sub. There is also a 2 FARAD Power Acoustic capacitor and a cheap power distribution block. Along with about 700FT of hot ground remote and RCA wires all hidden running through the truck for the subs amps and capacitor]

All in all I spent about $700 on stuff for my truck between the system and underglow kit and I am not done yet… I am considering tossing 2 15″ Powerbass subs in the bed of the truck [I have a topper to put on it] along with ANOTHER amp. I also have a friend who is talking about air ride and NOS!!!!

Ya I know I take to much pride in my truck

Xbox Slim Makes Me Feel All Warm And Fuzzy Inside

Yes people still use the old original xbox and this guy here gets major 1337 points for turning the old mammoth of a console into a sleek sexy media playing machine.

The console lacks a optical drive however that is something that is not a huge deal breaker because the games can be played from the 320gb laptop harddrive.

It does run a bit hot but that is to be expected when you cram it into that small of a space.

Windows Server 2008 + Exchange 2007 + All your contacts = Fail

Ok so I have an exchange email account that I use for all my email and contacts to sync between my iPhone and my pc. [mostly mobile email and contacts because I use imap on my desktop for emial] well my exchange host had to move boxes today and thats fine no big deal. However they failed

They switched from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008. In this process it borked exchange causing my computer to no longer sync.

They are correcting it should be fixed by the time I am done with this post but in any event I am gonna give you guys the fix as well [as stated in the link that was sent to me by the host]

To make the long story short, simply unselect IPv6 from the properties of your NIC AND (it’s very important) make a changes to the HOSTS file. Simply open up your hosts file and make the following changes:

Comment out the line “:::1 localhost”
Add the following two lines:

That SHOULD correct the issue

You can confirm that this works by doing a “telnet localhost 6004″.

cPanel is not secure!

Recently it has been discovered that cPanel was able to be hacked via what is called a cross-site request forgery attack.

More or less what it means is if you goto a infected website while logged into your cPanel server then it will allow them to run any code they wish on the server and even change the root password. Nasty stuff right?

cPanel has been notified of this however the response they gave was very very poor.

“The response I got from cPanel was we can’t fix this because it’s a feature. Apparently, they’re worried it’s going to break integration with third party billing software, so they can’t fix this.”

Now I am not a dumb ass [most of the time] so I know that if the service can be exploited you fix it. If you need a way to interface the control panel with the billing software find another way to allow it to function. Surely it can be done.

Its times like this I am glad that I do not use cPanel for my own servers however if you do run cPanel make sure you dont goto any strange sites while logged into your account. Perhaps setup a VM and only use it to access cPanel? Who knows

One thing I learned is that up-conversions from DVD players do not really do all that much, I can’t say I expected it to, but now I have a reliable source. Another interesting find on my search was this screen calculator that finds just how much picture you would be missing if you have a wide-screen TV, or a 4:3 (Full Screen) you can find it on this page: http://www.cnet.com/1990-7874_1-5108580-4.html?tag=hdtv;hdtv_l . Next Cnet even had a fabulous price range chart, which you can view here: http://www.cnet.com/1990-7874_1-5108580-1.html . I was only looking for a 32 inch set, and now I know that it shouldn’t cost me more than about $500.00 US . Now if you continue on through Cnet they have loads of information, but I didn’t just check Cnet. zdnet Told me something I didn’t know, there are actually rear projection LCD TVs that use a “LCD chip” as they called it to project an image on a screen, Now how that works I don’t know, but its good to know so that I don’t get one, because I’m really looking for a flat panel. One thing that zdnet also confirmed was that I definitely don’t ever want a plasma. Apparently they have bad burn-in problems, and for someone who will probably leave a game on for a long time, I’m more than likely to be a victim of it. Looking into HDTV’s[Part 1]

So guys I want to get a Playstation 3, Because I hear there are a lot of neat tricks for them, such as linux and emulators. The problem is that I don’t want to own one without having an HDTV to play it on. Now I’m not talking some 64″ monster, I’m looking for something simple yet high quality, a 32″ should do just fine, so I was thinking about going with a Sony but that might break the bank, Samsung I hear are also good quality but I think they too are out of my price range. One thing I defiantly don’t want is a VIZO, why? If its that cheap it must be for a reason, I have been comparing them in the store and the color difference is pretty distinguish able. No that’s not to say that maybe they are not calibrated right, but then again I doubt that a $250 set can out perform a $500 set. So I’m hoping to get some more information on them tonight and ill be ready to show you guys my results in tomorrow nights post! In the man time I’d love some feed back on how your HDTV set is doing! Please share with us in the comments!
